4 updates on Anthem

Here are four updates on Anthem’s investments, provider relationships and legal dealings reported by Becker’s Hospital Review since November.

1. Anthem is making investments in data, analytics, blockchain and artificial intelligence that the health insurer expects will one day lower costs and improve member outcomes.

2. Murray (Ky.)-Calloway County Hospital terminated its contract with Anthem and is attempting to negotiate a new one with the health insurer before a February deadline.

3. Anthem Blue Cross in California was slapped with $9.6 million in fines from January 2014 through November 2019.

4. Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield mistakenly listed WellStar Medical Group, the physician group of Marietta, Ga.-based WellStar Health System, as a network provider for its ACA marketplace plan, despite a long dispute.
