UHS Healthcare launches walk-in telehealth visits

Jackie Drees -

UHS Healthcare is rolling out virtual walk-in visits where patients and providers can connect through video to discuss minor medical conditions.

The virtual appointment service aims to provide patients who are primarily in good health with an alternative to visiting the Binghamton, N.Y.-based hospital for in-person care. Patients can use a computer, smartphone or mobile device to video chat with their provider during an appointment, and afterwards, if the patient requires a prescription, the clinician can send it directly to the pharmacy of his or her choice.

Virtual visits cost no more than $39 per appointment, without insurance. Appointments can be for various types of medical issues, such as upper respiratory infection or urinary tract infection, and the service is available to patients ages 2 to 75.

UHS health system comprises more than 500 physicians with more than 60 facilities across the country.
