Teladoc Health will now provide virtual care services in France through its acquisition of MédecinDirect, a Paris-based telemedicine provider.

Through the deal, which is expected to close before the third quarter of fiscal year 2019, MédecinDirect will become Teladoc Health's French unit. The telemedicine provider has more than 40 insurance partners in France.

"With a continued focus on our global expansion, we will now become the market leader in France with the ability to have an immediate impact on healthcare delivery in the country," Teladoc Health International President Carlos Nueno, said in a news release. "On the successful foundation built by MédecinDirect, we will bring our full suite of virtual care services to multinational clients who have been eager to expand."
