Teladoc is partnering with Johnston Group, a Canada-based payer, to extend telemedicine access and services to more than 30,000 small- to mid-size businesses in Canada.
Three things to know:
1. Through the partnership, Canadian businesses that are members of Johnston Group's Chambers of Commerce Group Insurance Plan will be able to offer their employees Teladoc virtual care services.
2. Members who use Teladoc services can partake in virtual healthcare appointments with a provider for various conditions, including cold and flu, allergies and pink eye.
3. Telemedicine services can help expand patients' access to care. In Canada, an estimated 8 percent of physicians are reported to be practicing in rural areas, according to the news release.
