SnapMD moves telehealth platform to Microsoft Azure cloud

Jessica Kim Cohen -

SnapMD, a Glendale, Calif.-based telehealth technology provider, transitioned its SnapMD Virtual Care Management platform to Azure, Microsoft's cloud computing service, Aug. 15.

SnapMD officials said it chose Azure because it offered healthcare regulatory and security features, including compliance with HIPAA and Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act requirements. For example, Azure enables SnapMD to encrypt to its platform data.

"Azure Cloud Services was able to exceed all of our security and compliance requirements and then some," said Daniel Bouganim, chief technology officer of SnapMD. "In addition, SnapMD can leverage advanced technologies such as machine learning and the ability to deploy our platform globally at scale that frankly no else could match."
