Sinai Hospital president leaves post to lead telemedicine startup

Jackie Drees -

Jonathan Ringo, MD, will step down from his position as president of Sinai Hospital of Baltimore and Grace Medical Center to launch a new telemedicine company, according to a Jan. 8 news release.

Dr. Ringo is expected to leave his role this summer before launching the telemedicine startup called Verappo, according to the Baltimore Business Journal.

Daniel Blum, who serves as president and CEO of Northwell Phelps Hospital in Sleepy Hollow, N.Y., will assume the president's position at Sinai Hospital.

Dr. Ringo will remain involved with Sinai Hospital by holding his position as a practicing OB-GYN and "may take occasional shifts on the labor and delivery unit," according to the news release.

Dr. Ringo joined LifeBridge Health in 2014 as the health system's first chief medical information officer before moving on to become LifeBridge's vice president of clinical transformation. He became interim president of Sinai Hospital in January 2017 before assuming the position permanently in May of that same year.
