New York insurer offers virtual care app access to Medicaid patients

Jackie Drees -

All Medicaid members of a New York nonprofit health plan will now have access to a mobile app that allows them to virtually consult with an emergency room clinician, according to a Jan. 27 news release.

CDPHP Medicaid members will have access to ER Anywhere, which is powered by United Concierge Medicine and provides virtual consultations to treat acute medical issues ranging from minor concerns to conditions requiring an ambulance transport.

CDPHP's full Medicaid membership includes 85,000 patients in 16 counties across New York.

The physician-founded, nonprofit health plan recently launched a pilot of the app in Rensselaer County, N.Y. During the three-month pilot, the app supported more than 80 consults and produced 97 percent ER avoidance.

CDPHP members can access the ER Anywhere provider team by downloading the app on a smartphone, tablet or desktop computer.
