Florida Senate passes bill to extend telehealth services from out-of-state providers

Jackie Drees -

The Florida Senate passed a new bill April 29 that would expand telehealth services from out-of-state providers to Florida residents, Miami Herald reports.

The bill would allow licensed providers outside of Florida to offer telehealth services to Florida residents if those providers register with the state, according to the report. However, the bill presents some exceptions, such as not requiring registration of healthcare providers who respond to emergency medical conditions, Orlando Sentinel reports.

The bill is anticipated to earn approval from the Florida House before the legislative session's scheduled end date May 3.
