Florida hospital to launch 3 telehealth sites at Publix pharmacies amid rebranding

Jackie Drees -

St. Augustine, Fla.-based Flagler Hospital will open three telehealth sites at Publix pharmacies in St. Johns County, Fla.

The hospital recently announced its rebranding campaign to Flagler Health+, a extension of Flagler Hospital that provides telehealth services for physical, social and economic health of communities. Publix is a supermarket chain based in Florida.

The telehealth sites at Publix's pharmacies will feature a private room with teleconferencing and medical equipment such as cameras, stethoscopes and blood pressure cuffs. Physicians will be able to communicate with patients directly through video chat to direct the patient's use of the appropriate tools to make a diagnosis. Publix Pharmacy support staff can also assist during visits.

Appointments will not be required to use the telehealth sites. A visit is expected to cost roughly the same as a copay for a physician's visit.

In addition to telehealth services, Flagler plans to open a Publix Pharmacy within its hospital.

The locations and site opening dates have yet to be determined.
