Doctor on Demand unveils digital platform for patient primary care: 3 notes

Jackie Drees -

Doctor on Demand, a telemedicine company, released details on a new digital platform that allows health plans and employers to offer patients virtual primary care.

Three notes:

1. Synapse is designed to give health plans and employers the ability to link their existing networks and services with Doctor on Demand providers.

2. The new platform will feature a singular patient profile that stores all the individual's health data and real-time health updates. The platform also provides medical device connectivity to Apple Healthkit and Google Fit.

3. Delivered through video, voice or messaging, Synapse aims to broaden Doctor on Demand's clinical services, including preventive health, chronic disease management and urgent care.

"We're just starting the journey of revolutionizing healthcare and making it more accessible to people everywhere," Gary Shapiro, Consumer Technology Association president and CEO, said in a press release. "Digital health innovations are changing our lives for the better and an innovative, virtual care solution will help solve many of the challenges in primary care and address the needs of patients, physicians, health plans and employers."
