Best Buy acquires telehealth monitoring system for at-home senior care

Jackie Drees -

Best Buy acquired Critical Signal Technologies, a personal emergency response systems and telehealth monitoring services provider, around May 3, Digital Commerce 360 reports.

Critical Signal Technologies serves a customer base of more than 100,000 elderly individuals, according to the report. Best Buy will incorporate CST's services as part of the company's expansion of GreatCall, a mobile device and emergency call service the technology retailer acquired last year.

Corie Barry, Best Buy CFO and strategic transformation officer, told analysts on the company's first quarter earnings call that combining CST's services with GreatCall will benefit Best Buy's existing services as well, according to the report.

"More broadly, this tuck-in acquisition, together with GreatCall, complements our existing capabilities like Geek Squad and In-Home Advisors to better serve both the seniors in their home and those who support them like payers and providers," she said.
