Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts is providing free mental and physical telehealth visits for its health plan members who have recently been affected by severe weather and storms in areas of Ohio and South Dakota.

More than 2,300 of BCBS' national health plan members reside in areas of Ohio and South Dakota that were hit by the storms, according to a news release. These members will be able to access BCBS' telehealth platform at no charge for copayments and deductibles through Aug. 1.

"Members dealing with the aftermath of severe weather shouldn't have to worry about how they'll get the services and medications they need," BCBS Massachusetts President and CEO Andrew Dreyfus said, according to the report. "Our hope is that this will make it easier for them to access care when and where they need it, even if they're displaced."

In addition to free telehealth services, BCBS Massachusetts is also offering affected members early refills of prescription medications and has waived referral, authorization and pre-certification requirements for pharmacy and medical services.
