American Well rebrands to Amwell: 5 details

American Well rebranded to Amwell on March 9 to reflect the growth of telehealth from a virtual urgent care service to digital care delivery.

Five things to know:

1. In a statement about the rebrand, Amwell said is new name "reflects who we are in a simpler way and demonstrates our connectedness to our clients, partners, products, employees and patients."

2. The company also updated its logo to a heart with a checkmark inside to symbolize high-quality healthcare delivery through technology as well as its commitment to serve its colleagues, ecosystem and communities.

3. Amwell now partners with more than 55 health plans and reports 150 million individuals have access to its technology through their health plan. The company also has more than 240 health system partners, including larges systems like Cleveland Clinic, Salt Lake City-based Intermountain Healthcare and NewYork-Presbyterian.

4. In addition to the rebrand, the company also launched a national COVID-19 telehealth response program on March 3 to make telehealth services available to patients with symptoms of COVID-19. The company also established an always-on-call infection control officer and specific workflows for COVID-19.

5. With the rebrand, the company reiterated its mission: "To connect and enable providers, insurers, patients, and innovators to deliver greater access to more affordable, high quality care."
