Here are 13 hospitals and health systems that implemented telehealth technology and services in October:
1. Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California received $3.4 million to study the effects of telemedicine on dermatology patients.
2. Mullica Hill, N.J.-based Inspira Health selected MD Live as its new telehealth provider.
3. Bozeman (Mont.) Health and St. Peter's Health in Helena, Mont., partnered to establish a neonatal care and maternal-fetal medicine center that uses telemedicine technology to reach more high-risk patients.
4. Greenville (Tenn.) Community Hospital East partnered with Advanced ICU Care, an intensive care unit telemedicine provider.
5. Boston-based Brigham and Women's Hospital will utilize Fruit Street Health's telehealth platform to observe the effects of health and lifestyle changes in a study of individuals at risk for dementia and cognitive decline.
6. Tampa (Fla.) General Hospital opened a standalone booth within the hospital in which employees can access on-demand, real-time consultations with physicians and automated pharmaceutical services.
7. Novant Health partnered with Tyto Care, a New York City-based developer of digital tools for at-home examination and diagnosis, to expand the Winston-Salem, N.C.-based system's virtual care offerings.
8. Department of Veterans Affairs is launching a multisite pilot program that will use Philips technology to provide remote and virtual care to veterans at their local veterans service organizations.
9. Cleveland Clinic and American Well will launch a joint venture digital health company to offer virtual care from the health system's specialists delivered via the telehealth provider's platform.
10. Spectrum Health and Pine Rest Christian Mental Health Services, both in Grand Rapids, Mich., are partnering on telehealth services for behavioral healthcare.
11. Freeport, Ill.-based FHN Healthcare launched its new telehealth application, FHNow, which allows individuals to access a provider directly from their smartphone or computer.
12. Jackson-based University of Mississippi Medical Center released a new mobile health app designed to treat patients with non-emergency conditions.
13. Sioux Falls, S.D.-based Avera Health received a $4.3 million grant to develop a national telehealth certificate program that aims to standardize and enhance the quality of care delivered via telehealth platforms.
