Supply Chain Tip of the Week: 3 strategies for your 2022 supply chain management

As we begin to navigate 2022, your facility may continue to face challenges from the previous year. Supply chain restrictions and having to prepare for the unknown remain two prominent obstacles in the healthcare industry.

While you have faced these challenges before, the new year provides an opportunity to consider these strategies for your supply chain management:

  1. Develop a “just in case” strategy: Instead of a “just in time” strategy, plan ahead by determining your most important supplies for different contingency stock scenarios.
  2. Find space to store your high demand product: When locating sufficient storage space, consider the amount of space you’ll need for up to 90 days of inventory on hand. This will help to reduce the likelihood of stockouts.
  3. Prioritize inventory management: To operate efficiently, utilize inventory tracking and reporting. Expiration date awareness minimizes waste and allows for optimal use of storage space.

These three supply chain management strategies can help better position you for the rest of the year. To find more resources on contingency stock planning, visit Cardinal Health’s Strategic Stock Solution.
