DHL unveils software to anticipate supply chain disruptions

Mackenzie Bean (Twitter) -

Deutsche Post DHL Group on Wednesday launched software that uses machine learning algorithms and natural language processing to predict supply chain risks.

The software, Supply Watch, analyzes online data and social media posts to monitor about 140 different risk categories, such as financial indicators, mergers and acquisitions and supply shortages. DHL said the tool can assess up to 30 million posts from more than 300,000 online and social media sources, according a news release.

By detecting potential disruptions in an organization's supply base, supply chain managers can complete risk mitigation and auditing activities earlier to limit or prevent financial losses.
