Cook Medical reorganizes workforce: 6 things to know

Cook Medical, a Bloomington, Ind.-based medical device company, revealed Tuesday it is realigning its global workforce to adapt to today's healthcare needs.

Here are six things to know.

1. The realignment affects sales, marketing, research and development, and customer service teams. Cook Medical will also establish new distribution channel management and medical education teams, the company said in a news release.

2. Cook Medical combined various business units to form two business divisions, MedSurg and Vascular. The company said the Vascular division comprises aortic intervention, peripheral intervention, interventional radiology and lead management businesses. The MedSurg division comprises employees who serve customers in areas such as surgery, critical care, endoscopy and reproductive health. Team members in the MedSurg division also serve customers in otolaryngology/head and neck surgery, as well urology clinical specialties.

3. One leadership team now presides over the company's global customer support centers and distribution centers.

4. The company developed a new global team focused on distribution channel management. Cook Medical said this team's specific responsibilities include "maintain[ing] our commitment to fully compliant and ethical access of … products," as well as "work[ing] with third party distributors improving distributor support and distribution channels to serve patients globally."

5. Cook Medical developed a research and development team by reorganizing engineering.

6. The company created a new global team focused on medical education. Cook Medical said the team will help work on the company's product training program for customers.
