A preventive migraine treatment, surgical fluorescence & more: 4 latest FDA approvals

Here are four drugs or medical devices that have been approved by the FDA since Sept. 21:

1. Symjepi, an epinephrine injector manufactured by Sandoz, was approved for the treatment of severe allergic reactions in children.

2. Eli Lilly & Co. received approval for its preventive migraine treatment Emgality. It is a monthly, self-administered injection.

3. Eluvia drug-eluting vascular stent, manufactured by Boston Scientific, slowly releases the drug paclitaxel to prevent tissue regrowth for the treatment of peripheral artery disease.

4. Leica Microsystem's Augmented Reality Glow800 surgical florescence was approved for vascular neurosurgery. The florescence allows surgeons to observe cerebral anatomy in natural color.
