Orlando Regional Medical Center Breaks Ground on Nearly $300M Redesign Project

Orlando (Fla.) Regional Medical Center announced the ground breaking of its estimated $297 million Redesign and Renovation Project.

The project will centralize services and increase access to care through a new patient bed tower, an emergency department expansion and renovations to existing cardiovascular, surgical, critical care, pharmacy and laboratory areas. The 345,000-square-foot tower will house upwards of 190 beds.

The Redesign and Renovation Project will close the Lucerne Pavilion and transfer inpatient care to ORMC to consolidate care and improve efficiency and cost savings.

Closing the pavilion will save at least $2 million annually in transfer costs alone by eliminating the need to transfer patients between ORMC and the pavilion.

The Annex area of the pavilion, however, which includes inpatient rehabilitation services, will remain open.
