13 physicians recognized for excellent emergency care

The American College of Emergency Physicians honored 13 emergency medicine physicians at its annual meeting, according to a Nov. 4 news release.

ACEP recognized its member physicians for excellence in leadership, policy, education, advocacy and research.

Below are the awardees, in alphabetical order:

Edward Barthell, MD, for emergency medicine innovation
Andrew Bern, MD, for contributions to ACEP's growth
Rebecca Cunningham, MD, for contributions in research
Gail D'Onofrio, MD, for contributions in research
Juan González Sánchez, MD, for lifetime contributions to ACEP
Richard Hunt, MD, for contributions in disaster medicine
Peter Jacoby, MD, for excellence in health policy
Ramon Johnson, MD, for contributions to emergency medicine
William Ken Milne, MD, for contributions in education
Robert O'Connor, MD, for contributions in emergency medical services
John Proctor, MD, for contributions to the ACEP Council
Sandra Schneider, MD, for contributions to ACEP
Andrew Southard, MD, for contributions to community emergency medicine
