10 cities most stressed about health and safety, ranked by WalletHub

Detroit is the most stressed city in the U.S., according to a ranking from WalletHub, a personal finance website.

WalletHub compared 180 U.S. cities across 39 measures of stress, which include average weekly hours of work, suicide rates and divorce rates, to create composite stress scores. It also broke down rankings by category, including financial stress and health and safety stress.

WalletHub's health and safety stress rankings include metrics like "share of adults who could not see a doctor because of cost" and "share of adult smokers."

Here are the 10 cities most stressed about health and safety:  

  1. Charleston, W.Va.
  2. Detroit
  3. Juneau, Alaska
  4. Cincinnati
  5. Akron, Ohio
  6. Little Rock, Ark.
  7. Fort Smith, Ark.
  8. Springfield, Mo.
  9. Spokane, Wash.
  10. Kansas City, Mo.
