SunLink Health Systems Reports Net Loss of $318k in 1Q of FY 2012

Atlanta-based SunLink Health Systems recorded a net loss of $318,000 in the first quarter of its 2012 fiscal year, compared with a net loss of $2.77 million in the same quarter last year, according to a SunLink news release.

SunLink's net revenues for the first quarter were $43 million, an increase of 5.4 percent from last year.

CEO Robert Thornton said the health system's equivalent admissions actually increased on a year-over-year basis for the first time in five quarters. Despite the net loss, Mr. Thornton said the health system is positioning itself for growth opportunities and is continuing to pay down its debt, according to the release.

In September, SunLink announced it ended its 2011 fiscal year with a net loss of $10.7 million.
