South Dakota Doles Out $200k to 15 Rural Hospitals

The South Dakota Department of Health has awarded 15 rural hospitals a total of $201,880 in grants for projects that include medication error reduction and telehealth, according to a SDDH news release.

The grants come from the Medicare Rural Hospital Flexibility Program. Over the past 11 years, South Dakota has awarded more than $3.8 million to rural critical access hospitals through the program.


The CAHs that received grants for this year included the following:

•    Avera Dells Area Hospital in Dell Rapids
•    Avera De Smet (S.D.) Memorial Hospital
•    Avera Flandreau (S.D.) Hospital
•    Avera St. Benedict Health Center in Parkston
•    Community Memorial Hospital in Burke
•    Coteau Des Prairie Hospital in Sisseton
•    Faulkton (S.D.) Area Medical Center
•    Hans P. Peterson Memorial Hospital in Philip
•    Huron (S.D.) Regional Medical Center
•    Mobridge (S.D.) Regional Hospital
•    Pioneer Memorial Hospital in Viborg
•    Platte (S.D.) Health Center Avera
•    Sanford Clear Lake (S.D.) Medical Center
•    Sturgis (S.D.) Regional Hospital
•    Wagner (S.D.) Community Memorial Hospital Avera
