Nebraska Bill Would Use Medicaid RACs to Reduce State Costs

A Nebraska bill that won first-round legislative approval would use recovery audit contractors to try to reduce costs for the state budget, according to a Bloomberg Businessweek report.

RACs would examine Medicaid claims for over- or under-payments to providers and would be compensated based on the amount of money recovered.

The Legislature's Health and Human Services committee introduced the bill.

According to state Sen. Kathy Campbell, 40 other states already have similar programs.
