Burundi is the latest country to start vaccinating health workers as a preventive measure against Ebola.
The country shares a border with the eastern part of the Democratic Republic of Congo, which has been battling a major Ebola outbreak since last August. The vaccination effort started Aug. 13 at an entry point near the countries' border.
South Sudan and Uganda, which also share borders with Congo, implemented similar vaccination campaigns in late 2018.
As of July 28, the World Health Organization has reported 2,671 confirmed and probable Ebola cases linked to the outbreak, including 1,790 deaths.
