Utah Hospitals See 37% Fewer Central Line Infections

Utah hospitals reported 37 percent fewer central line-associated bloodstream infections in 2011 than expected, according to a report released by the Utah Department of Health.

The 25 licensed hospitals in Utah with intensive care units reported 96 CLABSIs in 2011, 37 percent less than the 152 that national standards would have predicted. St. Mark’s Hospital in Salt Lake City is highlighted in the report for having zero CLABSIs in 2011.
