Staff -

A standardized verbal template for inter-shift sign-out of patient data increased clinician satisfaction with the process, improved information transfer and decreased sign-out interruptions, according to research published in the Journal of Healthcare Quality.

Researchers implemented a standardized 10-item sign-out checklist in a pediatric intensive care unit for 79 clinicians, performing surveys about information transfer and the sign-out process both before and after the standardized checklist implementation.
