South Carolina patients may need revaccination after hospital error

Easely and Powdersville, S.C.-based Pediatric Associates will offer free re-immunizations to about 1,800 kids due to a staff member's error, according to The Slate.

"We apologize for any worry we’ve caused and for the inconvenience of re-immunizing their children," Robin LaCroix, MD, medical director of Spartanburg County, S.C.-based Children’s Hospital of Greenville Health System, wrote in a Facebook post.

Dr. LaCroix also wrote children may have not received the full doses of their vaccines due to "human error." The individual who provided the immunizations is no longer working with the health system.

Dr. LaCroix said the Greenville Health System is following CDC recommendations by offering patients the opportunity to get re-immunized.
