Researchers at St. Louis University pay subjects $3K+ to get flu

Saint Louis University is offering $3,310 to participants in its flu study, which involves being infected with the influenza virus and being quarantined for at least 10 days, according to Fox 2

Participants will receive a nasal spray that contains a seasonal flu virus strain. Researchers aim to study how levels of preexisting influenza antibodies affect the timing, magnitude and duration of flu symptoms after exposure to the virus, Saint Louis University reports. The study builds off recent work conducted at NIH's National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.

Participants must be healthy and between ages 18 and 49. The trials help assess new treatments and vaccine options, researchers say.
