Report: Financial Incentives May Spur Drug-Resistant Bacteria Solutions

Financial incentives may spur research and development of antibiotics for infections caused by bacteria that are resistant to current antibiotics, according to a report by the Infectious Diseases Society of America published in Clinical Infectious Diseases.

The report describes progress on IDSA’s campaign launched in 2010, “10 × ’20,” which seeks to develop 10 new, safe and efficacious systemically administered antibiotics by 2020.
