Successfully and sustainably addressing clinical variation requires sound collaborative partnerships between hospital executives and physician leaders. Physician leaders who advocate for stronger collaboration between clinicians and senior executives play a pivotal role in driving strategies to reduce clinical variation. Without enhancing such relationships, the goal of improving quality and decreasing costs is significantly more daunting.
To seriously improve care delivery and protect the hospital’s bottom line, C-suite executives must engage physicians and ensure they are part of the solution to reduce clinical variation and improve outcomes.
During an Aug. 31 webinar hosted by Becker’s Hospital Review, a panel of healthcare executives will discuss strategies for engaging physicians, as well as how to identify and understand the financial drivers of Medicare Spending per Beneficiary, MACRA, and quality incentives, and how these changes are instilling a sense of urgency in addressing clinical variation.
Panelists include Steven Goldstein, CEO of Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, N.Y.; Shelly Hunter, CFO of Mercy SW Missouri-Kansas in Joplin, Mo.; Patrice M. Weiss, MD, CMO of Carilion Clinic, Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine in Blacksburg; and Nancy Lakier, MBA, RN, CEO of Novia Strategies.
The discussion will be moderated by Donna Hopkins, MSN, RN, vice president of Novia Strategies.
