In the latest version, the ACR updated more than 40 appropriateness criteria topics and added seven new criteria, including interventional planning and follow-up for abdominal aortic aneurysm, management of vertebral compression fractures, acute foot trauma, hematospermia, advanced cervical cancer and others.
The criteria was developed to help referring physicians make the most appropriate imaging or treatment decision for a specific clinical condition. The guidelines are expected to help providers enhance quality of care and contribute to the most effective use of radiology.
