Patients, staff potentially exposed to measles at Christus St. Vincent

Staff -

Christus St. Vincent Regional Medical Center in Santa Fe is, with the help of the state Department of Health, contacting staff, patients and visitors who were potentially exposed to measles, according to a KOB report.

On Nov. 25, a patient came into the hospital's emergency room with a respiratory issue. Two days later, the patient was diagnosed with measles and was then treated and released. After the diagnosis, the staff used infection control procedures.

While 80 percent to 89 percent of New Mexico residents are vaccinated for measles, so the risk of someone contracting the illness is low, the hospital is still working on contacting those who were in the hospital and possibly exposed.
