The video encourages patients to do the following:
- Talk to your physician about the surgery
- Ask someone to be there with you to make sure you’re getting all the care you need
- Be prepared for staff to ask you questions like your date of birth and for them to mark the site of surgery
- Be sure to ask clarifying questions if you have them about follow-up care, visits and prescriptions
The video is available in English and Spanish and is part of the Speak Up program, a free public service campaign.
