Gabrielle Masson -

A 33-year-old patient fell from a sixth floor window at New Brunswick, N.J.-based St. Peter's University Hospital and survived, landing on a lower-level rooftop, New Brunswick Today reports.

The man was found Jan. 13 around 8 a.m. on the hospital's first floor roof. It is not clear how long the patient was on the roof before police, fire and emergency responders were alerted.

Police are currently investigating the fall, but did not respond to New Brunswick Today's inquiries.

The patient was then transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, Michelle Lazzarotti, a St. Peter's spokesperson, told New Brunswick Today Jan. 13.

It is not publicly known why the man was transported to a different hospital.

"We extend our heartfelt thoughts and prayers to this individual and family," Ms. Lazzarotti said. "Out of respect and for the privacy of this individual, we have no further comment."
