Nurse stabbed while trying to protect patient at Philadelphia hospital

A nurse at Philadelphia-based Thomas Jefferson University Hospital was stabbed in the leg while trying to protect her patient, The Philadelphia Inquirer reports. 

Philadelphia police said the woman who stabbed the 42-year-old nurse was attempting to stab her sick father.

The 55-year-old father suffered a wound to the head from a soda can during the 7:20 p.m. attack Aug. 4. The nurse and father were stabilized.

The daughter who attacked was arrested and a weapon was seized, police said.

Police have yet to release the identity of the three individuals.
