NICU nurse adopts baby she helped deliver

When nurse Claire Mills scrubbed in for an emergency cesarean section at Houston Methodist Hospital last May, she had no idea she was helping deliver her future son, reports ABC13 Houston.

Just two weeks after she started as a nurse in the hospital's neonatal intensive care unit, Ms. Mills helped deliver a preemie named Jackson Jude. The infant weighed just 3 pounds, 10 ounces when he was born.

Ms. Mills told ABC13 Houston she felt an immediate connection with Jackson, even before learning that his parents were putting him up for adoption because they couldn't afford to take care of him.

Ms. Mills is in the process of finalizing the adoption and said Jackson's health has made significant improvements in the last few months.
