Due to inadequate water pressure, Niagara Falls (N.Y.) Memorial Medical Center nurses and hospital workers have been carrying water buckets to upper floors to flush toilets, The Buffalo News reports.
The problem began Dec. 16 after a water main burst the night prior. As water pressure lowered, patients above the medical center's first floor have not been able to shower or flush toilets, Joseph Ruffolo, president and CEO of Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center, said.
Daniel O'Callaghan, water board chairman, told The Buffalo News the pressure may be back to normal Thursday. The city's engineering department is finalizing bids for an emergency repair contract, with work beginning immediately after the bids are opened Wednesday.
