Kentucky nurses administer vaccines to combat hep A outbreak

Kentucky nurses are traveling throughout the state to administer hepatitis A vaccines in an effort to curb an outbreak that has infected 4,700 and killed 58 since November 2017, according to NPR affiliate WKYU.

The nurses are visiting places with at-risk populations such as county jails, homeless shelters and pharmacies, under the direction of the state and local partners. They have administered over 2,100 vaccines since April.

Kentucky is one of several states facing a hepatitis A outbreak.
