Joint Commission Calls for Critical Access Hospital Volunteers for Pilot Project

Staff -
The Joint Commission has called for critical access hospitals to volunteer as participants in a pilot project to test 10 CAH performance measures.

The 10 draft measures cover both inpatient and outpatient care processes, including aspirin at arrival for hospital inpatient and outpatient heart attack or cardiac chest pain patients; influenza vaccinations; pneumococcal vaccination and initial antibiotic selection for community-acquired pneumonia.

The Joint Commission is launching this pilot project to determine how the measures and specifications can be enhanced; assess the reliability of the measures and data elements; and understand feasibility and data reporting issues in critical access hospitals. Interested critical access hospitals may register to volunteer through October.
