Kealakekua, Hawaii-based Kona Community Hospital lifted visitor restrictions Jan. 14 following a scabies outbreak that started in late 2018, according to Hawaii News Now.
Although the restrictions were lifted Jan. 14, hospital officials said it is too soon to declare an all-clear in the outbreak.
About 50 people were diagnosed with scabies around the time the virus was brought into the hospital in November.
Hospital staff have taken steps to contain the outbreak, including hospitalwide disinfection, preventive treatment of all patient-care employees and daily surveillance of patients and staff.
