Daytona Beach, Fla.-based Halifax Health integrated its EHR with solutions from Wolters Kluwer Health and Vocera Communications to streamline sepsis surveillance.

Wolters Kluwer Health's clinical intelligence platform, called POC Advisor, aggregates and analyzes data from a patient's medical record to identify early signs of sepsis. The platform then delivers prescriptive recommendations to clinicians via Vocera's voice-controlled, hands-free communications technologies.

The goal of the integrated solution is to improve early diagnosis and treatment, according to Halifax Health officials.

"Time is the enemy when it comes to sepsis, with the likelihood of death increasing by 8 percent for each hour that passes without treatment," said Ginny Kwong, MD, vice president and chief medical information officer of Halifax Health.
