MedStar Mobile Healthcare — an ambulance provider in Fort Worth, Texas — has seen triple the amount of flu-related emergency calls this year compared to 2017, according to the Star-Telegram.

Here are three things to know:

1. MedStar crews have treated 226 patients with flu-like illness since Sept. 1, compared to just 44 people over the same period last year, according to MedStar spokesperson Matt Zavadsky.

2. The oldest patient treated was 94, while the youngest was 9 months. The average age of the sickened patients was 45.

3. During the first three months of 2018, MedStar crews responded to more than 1,100 calls involving patients with flu-like illness.

"Hopefully, this trend will not continue, but we strongly encourage residents to seriously consider getting vaccinated for the flu," Mr. Zavadsky told the Star-Telegram.
