A Florida medical practice has requested a full police investigation into a viral video showing a mother and daughter touching and licking medical supplies while waiting to be seen by a clinician, reports News4Jax.
The now viral Snapchat video was filmed inside an exam room at Jacksonville, Fla.-based All About Kids & Families Medical Center. The video shows an adult hand touching a container of tongue depressors under a sign that says, "Please do not touch medical supplies." A young girl then takes out one of the tongue depressors and licks it before returning it to the container.
The young girl's mother, who shot the video, told News4Jax she regretted her actions.
"I had just been waiting a long time," she said. "I was just being silly with my kids."
The medical practice said it immediately removed all medical materials in the room and resanitized the entire facility after learning of the incident.
"We were notified yesterday a patient had violated our trust with behavior that is inconsistent with the practices and standards that we uphold and expect at our facility," the practice said in a statement cited by News4Jax. "Upon notification of this isolated incident, we contacted law enforcement to request a full and thorough investigation. … Our internal investigation does not reveal any resulting risks or harm to patients from this action."
