Anne-Marie Kommers -

The Ebola death toll has hit 1,506 in the Democratic Republic of the Congo as of June 22, according to a report from the World Health Organization.

The report also shows the country has had 2,239 total Ebola cases since the DRC's Ministry of Health announced the outbreak Aug. 1, 2018.

The DRC's outbreak is considered the second worst in history, and the WHO announced June 6 the outbreak could last two more years. The WHO's director-general arrived June 16 in the country for a brief visit and called for international bipartisan support to fight the outbreak.
