Connecticut reports 1st flu deaths

The Connecticut Department of Public Health confirmed the first two flu-related deaths of the 2019-20 season Nov. 14.

The deaths occurred in the week ending Nov. 9. Health officials did not disclose the patients' genders or identities but said both individuals were over age 65.

As of Nov. 9, the flu has caused 47 hospitalizations in Connecticut this season.

State health officials reported 88 flu deaths during the 2018-19 flu season, 70 percent of which involved patients age 65 or older.
