With a measles outbreak spreading across the Twin Cities area, Minneapolis-based Allina Health changed its visitor guidelines Monday to protect patients and staff across all of its hospitals and clinics.
As of May 8, 48 people in three Minnesota counties have measles. All but two of the infected are children under 10 years old.
In response to the outbreak, Allina Health updated its visitor guidelines. The updates include:
- Children under five years old are asked not to visit an Allina Health hospital unless he or she needs medical care.
- All children under 10 years old need to wear a mask while in a hospital or clinic.
- People of all ages who have a cough or sore throat should wear a mask while at a hospital.
Allina Health has 12 hospitals and more than 90 clinics throughout the state.
