Colorado lawmaker to introduce bill loosening vaccine requirements

A Colorado state representative plans to introduce a bill to loosen vaccine requirements in the state, according to the Colorado Times Recorder.

Rep. Dave Williams' (R-Colorado Springs) proposed legislation is called the Vaccine Consumer Protection Bill. It would ban government discrimination or action against those with incomplete vaccine records or those who refuse vaccinations entirely. It would also require healthcare providers to give patients information about vaccines when requested and report adverse events related to vaccines.

"If families believe that [vaccination is] a benefit to them, then so be it – take it on yourself," Rep. Williams told the Times Recorder. "But if there are parents and families that know of vaccine injuries that have occurred and they don't want to have that risk, then that's fine, too."

In 2019, legislation that would have made it harder to opt out of state vaccination requirements passed in the state House, but did not pass in the state Senate.
