Coloradans exposed to measles quarantined following Disney outbreak

Staff -

Several people who have been exposed to a patient treated for measles at a Colorado Springs hospital who are not vaccinated for the highly contagious virus have been asked to quarantine themselves at home through Jan. 24, according to a report from The Gazette.

All who were asked to quarantine themselves have agreed.

An additional 50 to 75 people in the Colorado Springs area are known by health officials as having been possibly exposed to the virus and will be contacted by the El Paso County (Colo.) Public Health department to verify if they have been vaccinated.

The quarantines are a result of the multistate measles outbreak stemming from Disneyland and Disney California Adventure Park in California. The latest number of measles cases resulting from the outbreak has risen to 26 and Washington state, Utah and Colorado, in addition to California.

The patient who was being treated at Penrose Hospital in Colorado Springs is no longer contagious and has since been cleared to return home.
