California Department of Public Health issues 10 hospital penalties for inadequate patient safety

 
The California Department of Public Health has issued 10 penalties to eight California hospitals along with fines totaling $775,000.

The department conducted investigations that found that the facilities’ noncompliance with licensing requirements caused, or could likely cause, serious injury or death to patients.

The following hospitals were penalized:

1. Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs
2. Kaiser Foundation Hospital in Anaheim
3. Kaiser Foundation Hospital in Riverside
4. Memorial Hospital Medical Center in Modesto
5. Sharp Memorial Hospital in San Diego
6. Southwest Healthcare in Murrieta
7. St. Mary Medical Center in Apple Valley
8. St. Bernardine Medical Center in San Bernardino
